I love heading out to Floyd Bennett Field. It’s Gateway National Recreation area now, but I remember it from a class trip there in the late 60’s, when I was elementary school in Yonkers. The Vietnam war was on, there was active military activity, and I distinctly remember camoflauge C-130’s taxiing on teh runways. I was enthralled. It’s been all downhill ever since.
I have gone out there many times since and am happy that you can still drive out on the old runways, which share the space with community gardens, remote-controlled car freaks, and kite flyers.
This boat was stranded on the side of an access road/taxiway.
