The Lower East Side, New York City

Another in the ongoing “Gas Stations At Night” series. This is on my home turf, where so few gas stations remain, due to relentless gentrification, yuppification, hedge-fund stupid money fornication. It would appear that the kind of people moving into Lower Manhattan no longer need things that working and middle class schmoes need – delicatessens, laundromats, local stationary stores and, yes gas stations. Sad, but true, that this is one of maybe 4 remaining gas stations below 14th Street. An astonishing stat, considering that there were at least 20 no more than 10 years ago.
